After many years of getting away with no accidents with Candle WAX...it finally happened, go figure I just got back into candles and my new “KID”, safe warmer is in the mail. Krystian decided to throw a big blow-up boxing glove at my centerpiece furniture in our living room, and right beside the Christmas tree! Anyhow, needless to say, there was wax EVERYWHERE, the carpet, the wall, all my decorations, my plant, my fabric storage bins, diapers...I could go on, but you get the idea. So last night I got some of the decor cleaned off but I left the wall and carpet for today, I wasn’t getting into that at 10 pm!! So what I wanted to share with you all is a few ways I handled this!!! I was amazed!
Getting the wax of my wood was easy, I just used the scratch side of a sponge and then polished it as usual.
The carpet was a different story!!
So of course, I researched, I'm a bit OCD so I couldn't bear to look at wax on the carpet
How to remove wax from carpet:
you will need:
IRON
OLD TOWEL (you will dispose of it afterward)
Carpet cleaner (colored wax only)
Here's the scoop, it was amazing, I couldn't believe I didn't think of it, how simple and obvious!
Lay the towel flat over the area of carpet with wax, with the iron on med/high (depending on your iron) and steam ON, you will then iron the towel in the spots where the wax is on the carpet, go over it a few times, but don't stay in one place too long, or you will burn! Now, lift that towel and take a look! The heat melts the wax and it absorbs into the towel! AMAZING!
Now I have paneling for my walls, so I also did this to my wall and it worked, however, do NOT do this to wallpaper, drywall, or paint!
I very carefully also did this to my fabric bins, my plant however is most likely going to die. I had colorless soy wax. If you have colored wax you will need to finish with a carpet stain remover. Let me know in the comments if the color came out of yours!
* If your iron doesn't steam you can dampen the towel.
I've included a few pictures, however, my large spot was already cleaned before I got my camera!
